The ABM BiWaze® Cough System is the respiratory therapy system that combines multiple therapies of assisted cough and lung expansion along with high frequency oscillation, BiWaze Cough breaks up and then removes mucus from the lungs by applying inhalation air pressure to the airway and then rapidly shifting to exhalation air pressure. Pause phase allows the user to catch their breath before the next assisted cough cycle. BiWaze Cough can provide positive pressure flow during the pause phase, creating a higher average airway pressure, keeping the Functional Residual Capacity higher after exhalation, providing a more comfortable therapy experience.
Features
Features
- Oscillations: The Oscillation therapy feature delivers an oscillatory therapy based on frequency and amplitude settings. Use of the oscillation feature enhances mobilization and improves bronchial drainage.
- Inspiratory Trigger: An important characteristic of the device is its ability to trigger on the patient’s inspiration to help synchronize the therapy with the patient. The inspiratory trigger feature is available when the device is in Auto mode. The pressure delivery sequence is synchronized with the patient’s effort to inhale.
- Inspiratory Flow: While the expiratory switching is desired to be fast and at high flow to simulate cough, the inspiratory flow may be controlled to a comfortable level by selecting the flow between low, medium and high.
- Positive Airway Pressure on the Pause Phase: Provides the option to keep airways open in-between the exhalation and inhalation phases of the cycle cough. This feature is designed to make the therapy more comfortable for the patient.
